OMG! Unecessary, Defensive Indie Rock Drama!

Dear Win Butler and Wayne Coyne:

This is an open letter to end these silly differences.  C’mon you guys, you’ve both made music/life changing albums.  You both have given uncountable emotional experiences to truly devoted fans.  Your live shows are top notch and sought after.  This is the last thing the world needs….the economy sucks, nearing a depression..but wait ! WTF! Win Butler and Wayne Coyne are arguing!!???  *BOOM! shotgun blast to the fuckin face!*

Wayne:
From Rolling Stone:
I’m a fan of them on one level, but on another level I get really tired of their pompousness,” says Coyne. “We’ve played some shows with them and they really treat people like shit. Whenever I’ve been around them, I’ve found that they not only treated their crew like shit, they treated the audience like shit. They treated everybody in their vicinity like shit. I thought, ‘Who do they think they are?’ I don’t know why people put up with it. I wouldn’t put up with it. I don’t care if it’s Arcade Fire or Brian Eno. If either of them walked into a room and treated people like shit I’d be like, ‘Fuck you, get outta here.’
He continues, “People treat Arcade Fire like they’re the greatest thing ever and they get away with it. Those sort of opinions change my view of their music. They have good tunes, but they’re pricks, so fuck ‘em. Who does Arcade Fire think they are? I’ve been around groups. I’ve been around the Edge from U2 and he’s the fucking sweetest guy ever. I was around Justin Timberlake when he was young and he was just a normal, nice, kind person.  Anyone can be polite and kind and people who have the privilege and money and attention should understand that. If they don’t, then fuck ‘em.”

First off Wayne you need to apologize.  Even if Win was a jerk or whatever, do this the right way…book a tour together and settle it out (could you fuckin imagine!?)  Don’t go poppin’ off to RollingfuckingStone!  Just you getting heated is gonna squash a little “Do you Realize?” effect off the next live show I see of you!  You’re a staple of peace and smiles to all of music – take any anger you have out on your puppet.  What’s this newfound aggression? I blame Dave Fridmann (I’ve been into doing that lately.)

Win:

And Win, c’mon, a defense necessary? yes, probably.  But stooping to his level? nooo nooo.  You were so mature about it until you turned the word “Prick” back onto him! (although it was prickish, unless you really were being a prick.)  But your set to stand tall, be the mature and serious frontman of everything you built in your cold, beautiful city.  I mean, you always look slightly angry, but I always figured you just had a lot on your mind.  I blame all this hangin’ out with The Boss.

In Conclusion, you two are better than this.  Neither of you need a Noel Gallagher style attitude to your accomplishments and highly anticipated futures.  I say we re-create this concert where the argument began and show us all how much you’ve both grown.  ….It could be the start of your double-billed world tour :)

On a lighter note, here’s the new Clap Your Hands Say Yeah tune:
